Board Chairman - Hon. B. St. Michael Hylton



B. St. Michael Hylton O.J., Q.C. is a highly accomplished lawyer with a distinguished career in both the private and public sectors. Mr. Hylton was a former Solicitor General of Jamaica, a position he held from 2001 to 2007.

Since December 2010, he has held the position of Chairman of the General Legal Council. In February 2012, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority.

Mr. Hylton brings to this office a wealth of experience as he has had the distinction of spearheading some of the top organizations and ministerial committees in the island and the region.

Some of the organizations he has chaired include:


    - The Commission of Experts drafting Guidelines/Minimum Standards for the Commonwealth on    Freedom of Expression, Assembly & Association (2002)
    - The Commission of Experts, Inter-American Convention Against Corruption (2005-2006)
    - The Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (2005-2006).
    - The Government of Jamaica Inter-Ministerial Committee on Ethics (2006-2007)
    - The Financial Services Commission (2007)

A graduate of the University of the West Indies and the Norman Manley Law School, Mr. Hylton is a former partner at the prestigious law firm Myers Fletcher and Gordon.

In 1995 Mr. Hylton was appointed Queens Counsel, and in 2006 he was awarded the Order of Jamaica in recognition of his contribution to Law and the Public Service.
