The Regional Aviation Safety Oversight System (RASOS) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) hosted the European Coordination Centre for Aviation Incident Reporting Systems (ECCAIRS) training course in Jamaica in mid November.
The one-week course offered training to personnel from Civil Aviation agencies throughout the Caribbean region, including Information Technology specialists and personnel involved in the investigation, reporting and recording of accidents and incidents. The training covered the installation, administration, and efficient use of the ECCAIRS system.
Topics included the reporting of safety data, data driven safety initiatives, worldwide statistics and safety indicators, safety information systems and incident data analysis. The software was donated by ECCAIRS through ICAO and will be given to all participating member states. Participants came from Barbados, Haiti, the OECS, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica.
