AVIATION SAFETY INSPECTOR(Airworthiness)
|
General Task:
Reporting to the Manager, Airworthiness Oversight the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that international and local air operators and maintenance operations, in Jamaica and for Jamaican air operations overseas, comply with all the regulatory requirements in the areas of aircraft maintenance, air operator certification, maintenance organization certification, aircraft servicing, ramp operations and maintenance engineer licensing.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Regulatory oversight of international and domestic airlines in keeping with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices as specified in Annexes 1, 6, and 8;
- Ensure regulatory compliance of the aviation industry with the Jamaica Civil Aviation Regulations (JCAR), 2004 as amended;
- Provide expert guidance to air operators, maintenance organizations, training organizations and maintenance engineers, to assist them in meeting the requirements of the JCAR 2004 as amended as covered in ICAO Annex 1 and 8; and
- Review, monitor, certify and approve training programmes, manuals and procedures used by Jamaican air operators in the areas of aircraft maintenance and maintenance training, to ensure compliance with international and national regulations.
Requirements:
- Must have a Jamaican Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s License, Type Rated or approved on at least two-(2) aircraft;
- Minimum Ten-(10) years working experience in aircraft maintenance which include two-(2) years in a managerial position in a repair facility or airline;
- Sound knowledge of Civil Aviation Regulations and standards in the areas of licensing, air operator certification, aviation maintenance of competency for Aviation Maintenance Engineers;
- Working knowledge of procedures for airworthiness certification, inspection of air operators for addition of new aircraft and procedures for company operating aircraft;
- Working knowledge of aviation incident and accident investigation procedures, quality assurance and safety programme management;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and strong team player;
- Ability to work on own initiative and exercise sound judgment;
- Strong PC skills in MS Office suite;
- Ability to conduct inspections in an impartial, professional manner; and
- Good interpersonal skills.
